COVID-19 aid program finally kicks into gear.
The Department of the Treasury announced the launch of the Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund on Tuesday, a program created to improve broadband internet access on a state-by-state basis. The fund is part of the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act which has invested $583 million of its allotted $10 billion to broadband projects in Virginia, West Virginia, Louisiana, and New Hampshire.
“In the next three years there should not be any excuse while virtually every home in America, north of 98%, shouldn’t have full high-speed broadband connectivity at an affordable rate,” said Senator Mark Warner of Virginia. “We just have to make sure we implement it well.”
